How To Apply For Learn And Play® Admissions? What Is The Process?

Parents with small children are often curious as to how our enrollment process works. Feel free to call us directly, or read this post for helpful instructions.

Schedule a School Tour: You are welcome to take a school tour of our Montessori Campus. Our tours are available Monday to Friday. Call us at (510) 916-1600 or email us at [email protected] to schedule a tour at your convenience.
Tour and Meeting with the Director: After the Montessori school tour, the director will meet with you and answer any questions you may have. An application form and a brochure will be given to you. You will also be sent an enrollment link so you can digitally fill out the application form.
Submit Application and Application Fee: A $300 non-refundable application fee is due with the application to confirm and hold your child’s place.
Acceptance and Enrollment Packet & Fees: Upon receipt of the application and the $300 non-refundable application fee, an enrollment packet will be given. The parents will complete, sign and return all portions of the enrollment agreements, emergency forms, health history forms, immunization records and all other required forms before child’s first day of school.
Before Child’s First Day of School: Please make sure to submit all completed forms before your child’s first day of school. The admissions team will be sending you an enrollment packet via email which would include all the required forms.

We have 2 available scheduled for our After School program: 11:30 AM – 6:00 PM and 2:30 PM – 6:00 PM. The schedule below is for both programs, according to the program selected.

In the coming weeks, the children will be exploring a few Montessori + STEM based experiments to continue to nurture the child’s exposure to discovering new STEM-related concepts and materials.

Electricity: LED Experiment with Playdough – The children will learn about the basics of electricity and how it flows through playdough to conduct electricity
Optical: Concave/Convex – They will learn about the basics of reflection and observe how a flexible mirror can distort reflection
Chemistry: Chromatography Paper – Through coffee filters, the children will learn about the basics of separating mixtures and observe how different colors of ink separate into their component parts when placed on a piece of paper

Experiments form the heart of our STEM curriculum. We create an environment where students can actively engage with scientific concepts, encouraging them to ask questions, make predictions, and test hypotheses. Ongoing Fun Summer Program at Learn And Play Montessori Schools

Learn And Play Montessori Schools’ summer marine biology program offers children a unique opportunity to explore and learn about marine life and ecosystems during the summer months. It provides a blend of education, adventure, and fun that can captivate and engage children’s interest in marine life. It allows them to explore their passion for the ocean and learn in an immersive and enjoyable environment.

Marine biology puzzles offer a fun and interactive way to learn about marine life. They combine education and entertainment, making the learning process engaging and enjoyable.
Sandbox marine biology activities offer a hands-on approach to learning. Children can physically manipulate the sand, water, and model organisms, providing a tangible experience that enhances understanding and retention of marine biology concepts.
Matching cards and object activities in marine biology provide a hands-on and interactive approach to learning. They promote memory retention, cognitive skills development, vocabulary expansion, and conceptual understanding while making the learning experience enjoyable and engaging.
Using marine-themed counting materials, such as sea animal toys or shells, provides visual representations that aid in counting and reinforce numerical concepts. Children can physically handle objects, move them around, and place them in order, fostering fine motor skills and sensory engagement.
Bead stringing involves manipulating small objects, which helps improve fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination. Children practice grasping, threading, and manipulating beads, enhancing their dexterity and finger control.
Engaging in magnet fishing involves physical activity, including casting the magnet, pulling it back, and reeling in the objects. This activity can contribute to improved coordination, strength, and overall physical fitness.

What else are we doing during this summer program?

A fun under-the-sea activity that our teachers and children are working on every Thursday throughout the summer is a shoebox Ocean Habitat diorama. Each week as we learn more about ocean life, the children will create and add to their diorama

Besides learning about ocean life under the sea, LAPMS parents are invited to take their children to the beach or park giving them an opportunity to clean the environment. It’s a wonderful opportunity to spend quality time together, teach important lessons, and make a positive impact on the community. Let’s make this summer memorable, filled with learning and a shared commitment to preserving our precious oceans.

Practical life activities are an integral part of the Montessori curriculum. Through tasks like pouring, cleaning, and serving food, children develop essential social skills such as

grace, courtesy, and cooperation. These activities promote independence, self-control, and respect for others, laying the foundation for positive social interactions.

Grace and courtesy lessons are a fundamental part of our Montessori curriculum. Children learn and practice manners, respectful communication, and appropriate social behavior. They engage in activities that promote greeting others, expressing gratitude, and showing kindness. These lessons foster respect, empathy, and consideration for others, creating a positive social environment. We encourage parents to grace and courtesy at home as well.

Our toddler and Kindergarten programs incorporate collaborative projects and group activities that encourage teamwork, cooperation, and communication. Children work together on tasks, such as building structures, creating artwork, or solving problems, fostering a sense of shared responsibility and achievement. These experiences develop social skills, including effective communication, active listening, and the ability to work harmoniously in a group.
